Skynet Terminal: White-Label MT5-Style Trading Workstation

A pixel-matched MetaTrader-5-style desktop terminal for brokers, built in Python with its own EA engine and strategy tester.

PySide6 desktop app verified against the real MT5 pixel by pixel, with a Python EA engine, strategy tester, live/paper accounts, a native protected build, a Windows installer, a macOS CI build and a DK-branded second edition.

What makes it serious
  • Pixel-diff harness against the real MT5 at identical window rects
  • Bit-exact chart typography and autoscale rules measured from the terminal
  • Native protected build + MT5-style installer + macOS CI with soak test
  • Re-branded DK edition produced from the same codebase

Brokers who want their own branded terminal are locked into MetaQuotes licensing. Skynet Terminal is a from-scratch desktop workstation that looks and behaves like MetaTrader 5 so traders need no retraining, while the broker owns the brand. The app reads live quotes from any MT5 broker, charts with bit-exact MT5 fonts and grid geometry, and runs a Python EA engine with a Strategy Tester and a built-in editor.

Parity was treated as a measurable requirement, not a vibe. A compare harness captures the real terminal and the clone at the same window rectangle and diffs them region by region; a menu sweep drives every MT5 command and the matching command in the clone, logging each discrepancy until fixed. Orders go to a paper account by default; live trading requires typing LIVE and real-money proof is left to me.

The terminal ships as a Nuitka-compiled native build with zero source strings, an Inno Setup installer styled like the MT5 installer, and a GitHub Actions macOS build with a 10-minute soak test. A second edition was re-branded for another broker in a day because branding is isolated from code. A hosted Skynet Server (an AstraTrade derivative) feeds the demo server, and a two-monitor 4K promo video shows the app being rebuilt from scratch.

How it works

  1. Terminal attaches read-only to a running MT5 broker feed or the hosted Skynet Server
  2. Charts, Market Watch, Navigator and toolbars render with measured MT5 geometry
  3. Python EAs run in the engine or the Strategy Tester against cached history
  4. Orders route to a paper account, or live only after a typed confirmation
  5. Protected native build and installer are produced for distribution
