Indicator Walkthrough Series: Free Indicators, Code Analysis and Legends
On-chart video series that drive real indicators live, read their source, and backtest famous traders' methods before recording on honest settings.
A measured on-chart highlight layer, bar-replay examples, a 102-setup gold indicator test that excluded a 29k-like favourite for losing money, a licence-aware code-analysis format, and five legend strategies with in/out-of-sample results recorded as found.
- Measured on-chart highlight layer that tracks the camera
- 102-setup indicator test with IS/OOS halves behind the picks
- Licence-aware code-analysis format
- Legends backtested with explicit in/out-of-sample inputs
These series share one rule from me: explain on the chart like a trader, with the indicator being driven on screen, never static cards. The free-indicator episodes open on a trade, show what makes the script different, then walk buy and sell rules, stops and settings. A take driver operates the indicator UI (open, search, settings, inputs) over the DevTools Protocol, and a highlight layer (zone boxes, entry, stop and target lines, result badges) is drawn in recording pixels from live measurements so it zooms and pans with the candles. The first episode, Supply and Demand on SPY, is published.
The gold episode picked five free buy/sell indicators from a test of 102 setups across 17 indicators on 25,734 real hourly bars with identical rules and in/out-of-sample halves; only ten passed both halves and a very popular script lost money in all six variants, so it was excluded and the video makes no performance claims. The code-analysis episode reads a leading SMC indicator's source and states what only the code shows, under a licence rule agreed in advance: short excerpts, credit on every card, no code republished.
The legends series backtested and optimised five famous methods with in-sample and out-of-sample inputs, dropped one for having too few trades, and recorded each video on the setting that held up, saying so when a setting was chosen after seeing the holdout.
How it works
- Backtest candidates on real bars with identical rules
- Script the episode around measured examples
- Driver adds and configures the indicator live on the chart
- Highlights and callouts are composited from live measurements
- Render, caption and package for review before upload
